Can I transfer clipboards and settings to another computer?

Yes, Clipboard Master saves all data in the directory

  • C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Jumping Bytes\ClipboardMaster and/or
  • C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\Jumping Bytes\ClipboardMaster

To open that folder copy this path:
%APPDATA%\Jumping Bytes\ClipboardMaster
press Windows + R , paste the path and press OK.

The clm4 files are the clipboards and settings.ini contains the settings.

You can copy these into the corresponding directory on another computer.

 

You can ex- and import settings as well, e.g. only all or some hotkeys:
Settings -> press F12 to show all settings, if not the case
Click at export settings

To export only some hotkeys:
Settings -> global hotkeys -> click at (or press F10) -> export

 

To import the settings, simply double click the settings file.

Where are the settings and the clipboards stored

Clipboard Master stores its settings and data in this folder:

You can Clipboard move clipboard to other folders, or when creating a new clipboard set a different location.

Data security is important in Clipboard Master.

  • Clipboards Ablagen are saved encrypüted on harddisk (Version 4.8.4 or later)
  • Common clipboards are saved with strong encryption and optional with a password
  • NBetwork clipboards are saved with strong encryption and optional with a password
  • Password Safe
    - Its data is stored double encrypted on harddisk
    - is loaded encrypted to the memory
    - only to paste or edit data is decrypted and encrypted afterwards
      Memorty is overwritten with 00

  • Clipboard Master starts only with a valid and proper signature
  • Der Updater starts only with a valid and proper signature
  • The update is only started if the downloaded file has a valid and proper signature

 

This will be implemented in a future version:

  • When Autotext is activaed, store the typed characters encrypted in memory
  • Text from inout boxed which Clipboard Master stores, store then encypted
    (texts from password fields are never stored, already the case)

Does Clipboard Master send or retrieve data via the internet

No, Clipboard Master save its data and settings only locally.
This can be network drives/folders, but only if the user has moved a clipboard to it or created a new clipboard at an network drive/folder.

Clipboard Master does not send or receive any data via the internet.

Exceptions:

  1. To check for new versions the page https://www.clipboardmaster.com/download/download.html is loaded.
  2. Using the 'Have I been pawnd' feature of the password safe sends and receivces data to/from the 'Have I been pawnd'webpage. » Details
